 MUSIC at the TOWERS YEARS THREE is UNDERWAY!

WELCOME TO OUR LEVEL ONE BEGINNERS-
by next week everyone will have an  instrument in their hands!
 
 WELCOME BACK level 2 and 3 Students!
some of you may be upsizing your instrument.
We are doing the switches next week , so we can get on with making MUSIC!
PARENTS: Next week, when instruments are assigned, we will be handing out Rental Agreement forms and Claudia will be accepting your instrument rental fees.
Make sure you are storing the instrument safely. You may wish to cover the instrument with your house insurance policy - any accidental damage is your responsibility.

WATCH THE PAPERS!

Thanks so much for coming Saturday- you played well despite the less than helpful conditions! VERY NOISY!
but, to be expected in a CARNIVAL atmosphere! People seemed to be really enjoying the event!
Just think of it like playing a Wedding Reception- it HAPPENS!

We had a Guardian Photographer there, so watch the paper this week-you are about to be famous!

Also SNAP paper has asked for photos- I am working on it, but don't have any of my own of the Towers event.If you have a few good ones and want to send them to me , I'll forward them to SNAP.
I do have lots for SUPERSTORE, thanks to our new student, the younger Mr Balaaj! and will be sending some of them to Ian Mahy. .

Our Level 3 students are about to become REAL musicians, playing
Real Music written by the great Masters for the Pro's and by recent Popular Composers. You have no idea what can be in store when you follow through over the long term!
MUSIC is for YOUR WHOLE LIFE!!!

GOOD NEWS FOR MATT!!
As of today, we have a new Admin Assistant who is going to be WONDERFUL !
Mrs. Claudia Perdomo will be there to handle all paperwork. She will receive payments, applications,  keep inventories of books and intstruments and handle countless other Administrative tasks.
Thanks to Ontario Trillium Foundation for sponsoring this position!

 This news means MATT Director and Class Teacher,
Andrea Currie Jefferson, is now able to focus on
preparing Music, Lesson schedule and Concerts.
More to come on that:
Private lessons will start in October.

NEW INFO RE: SATURDAY LUNCH:GOOD NEWS!
Brampton Towers has donated a ticket for a drink and a hamburger or hotdog, for each child who plays the concert.
 
After the Superstore Concert we will return to the Towers to eat lunch,
then set up at 12:30 to play.

Don't forget to review the music before Saturday!

CONCERTS
It is very important for all students to attend these events as a part of our appreciation for support by the community
 and promotion for our school!

Dress: colorful pants/skirt and MATT t-shirt
10 - 11am rehearsal -party room arrive 10 min early
11:30-12:00 concert at Superstore
there will be a short lunch break for your child after this concert,
(maybe we can have a hamburger at the BBQ-to be discussed  later)
 BUT we must set up at the Towers event by 12:30, to play at 12:45.
12:45-1:15 outdoor concert at Towers -clothes pegs needed
1:30-2pm  outdoor concert at Towers

NB: RAIN DATE for the out door Barbecue is the Sunday September 8th-
 I hope we do NOT have to use it.

However the Saturday morning rehearsal and Superstore concert stays the same in any kind of weather.
Parents are asked to help by handing our flyers, answering questions during the performances and handing out application forms if requested.
We WILL register interested people that day

Most violin students have the music for this:one line- repeated several times.
Cello repeats 2 bars-will be given at rehearsal

F# E(o) D C# B A then up B C#D, then continue the D scale down to F# -(D2)
then back up to G (D3)  F#(D2) G(3)E (D1)
then back to the beginning.

Also Sept 7th we will register new students at the BBQ

Happy August, Everyone!-
We still have a few weeks left to enjoy the lazy days of summer!
 
 
COMING EVENTS to put on the CALENDAR:
 
this Saturday Aug. 10:- rehearsal 10-11 a.m. at Ms. Currie's home.
Arrive 9:50 for tuning and set up
Bring instrument, folder with June concert music and music stand.
If you'd like a swim after, bring your gear!
We will also register students for 2013/14 year -fee paid by Sept 10. 
 
Saturday Aug. 24:
Registration in Coffee Room for new students 10-12 a.m.
Rehearsal 1-2 p.m. at Ms. Currie's home

Music at the Towers Students have been invited to play a couple of very short promotional concerts as an intro to the Recreational and Leisure Fair Saturday, Aug 10th. MID-DAY
2 SHORT 10 MIN CONCERTS-REHEARSAL BEFOREHAND
 
SCHEDULE: Rehearse 11 AM. and play around noon that day- 2 short 10 min concerts. Exact times and info to be sent later

In order to plan, we need to hear from our students soon.
