CHALLENGE is GOOD!

We hope that EVERY ONE  of our students is being challenged to grow and learn more!

For some- it is about new roles is the same group - becoming a leader or soloist.
For others it is about joining a new group, which seems very  difficult first day-
it WILL get easier!!

For EVERY ONE it is important to take the challenge and MASTER IT!
We hope every on of our fabulous students does this-this IS how we become better players. AND BETTER PEOPLE!

If anyone has any concerns or questions? Please feel free to call Andrea re: Music issue,

NEW BEGINNINGS in 2014

HAPPY  NEW YEAR to all our families!

Our goal is to support the musical development of our students in every way possible, so that each students reaches her/his full potential. This is why we are making changes now.

Within this month we will be renewing and adjusting all classes
and starting a new Beginners Class on Wednesday afternoons.
Here is a brief review of the changes:

 Level 1:
1. All diligent students who are paid up and regularly attending class receive a 30 minute private lesson alternate Tuesdays,Thursdays or Wednesdays- this will be very beneficial to their progress. There is no additional cost. However it is ESSENTIAL that your child attend every lesson. If you know you will not able to attend EVERY time, we will discontinue your lessons and assign the teacher to a different student. IF any lessons are missed, without at least 48 hours prior notice to Claudia and the teacher, your lessons will be discontinued. We cannot pay teachers for missed lessons. Make sure you keep track of the dates. The first lessons begin the week of January 20th.

2. The Level 1"Readers" will be moving to the 4:45 time slot starting Tuesday January14th-
This allows more attention to be devoted to all students in both Level 1 groups.

Level 2:
Starting Tuesday the 14th of January, some level 2 students who have worked ahead in the AFS Method Book will be moving into the level 3 class which arrives for set up at 3:45 pm and ends 4:45. They will be required to practice diligently and receive assistance on new music at individual lessons. All regularly attending students in good standing will receive private lessons where they will be coached on class music and, where merited, additional musical assignments. REMINDER However it is ESSENTIAL that your child attend every lesson. If you know you will not able to attend EVERY time, we will discontinue your lessons and assign the teacher to a different student. If any lessons are missed, without at least 48 hours prior notice to Claudia and the teacher, your lessons will be discontinued. ..

Level 3:
The more advanced students  in Level 3 who have demonstrated their diligence in learning our music will be assigned a solo piece to prepare for the final concert in June. Diligent second violinists will be moved into 1st violin. All students will receive specific coaching on the new class material in private lessons. Season's Greetongs to All

We have NO classes now till January 7th.
Please READ ALL BELOW-it's long! BUT your reward?
 PHOTOS AT THE END
-would LOVE to receive some more photos to post and use for posters etc. Please send them on to matt.brampton@hotmail.com

HOLIDAY HOME PRACTICE?
Please continue through the holidays to practice carefully-remember you have more time together now to keep up- or to catch up! Leaving it alone for more than a couple of days brings backwards movement-

SO let's NOT go THERE!

Here are some important items
for the beginning of 2014!

1. FEES:  OUR fees are so low because we want everyone to afford it!  Just because we have low prices, PLEASE don't take advantage of our program by not paying as required! we have a very tight budget and cannot continue the teaching unless you pay,
because our fees are SO LOW!

If you are behind in your payments, make sure your child is able to continue in the program by paying up no later than the  first  class in January or before!

Administration of fees, absences etc.
Thank you, Claudia!:
You may not be aware of ALL the work done by Claudia, our Admin Ass't! We work very closely together to offer our Music Program and she is to be supported, helped and appreciated as the right hand covering all the bases-it is NOT an easy job-please do not argue with her about money, missed lessons etc. She keeps careful tabs on all this and consults me about it all.. She is very good at what she does-without her we'd be in trouble keeping all the details in place. SO Thank you CLAUDIA!
Parents, in future report your planned or last minute absences-classes, lessons and CONCERTS via e-mail to Claudia and copy Andrea, so we have no misunderstandings.

2. Calendar to keep informed:
Claudia is preparing a calendar to hand out so that ALL can keep track of classes. lessons, payment dates, concerts etc. It is YOUR job to be there on time and pay up on time. We do our best to help you, but cannot call EVERYONE  constantly about these things.

3. Re-assignment of classes for some:
Level 2- Advanced Readers who are finished AFS Book 1, will be given the opportunity to move into Level 3 Class.

Level 1
The Early Readers in Level 1 will be assigned to a new time-
from 4:45 to 5:45 to join some Level 2 students. They are at # 80 in the book, so continue to work ahead reading over the holidays, IF you would like to do this.
All other Level 1 students will be introduced to reading early in 2014-so you will need to buy a music stand (we have some to sell at below cost price - $15) but you can get your own if you like.and be ready for a step forward!

We are here to help each students progress at his or her own rate in this lovely and rewarding journey of music-making!

Individual Lessons for Level 1 students
As you know we are planning to provide lessons alternate weeks ( once every two weeks) for the regularly attending and paid up students in Level 1.This has not been done before in Level 1, due to lack of funds. This year we will use the Canadian Tire Donation for that purpose, as far as the money can go!
We are constantly seeking out additional funding for our growing program. If you know of a company or service group whom you  would be able to put us in touch with(personal contact always helps)
please let us know the details!

At this moment we do not yet know when our teachers will be available, so that is the next step. It will likely not be Tuesday, except for possibly for some cellists.
Once we have a lesson schedule to offer you, early January, we will ask you to sign up for a suitable lesson slot. These lessons are provided at no additional cost, but you must attend EVERY LESSON assigned if you wish to receive this very important training.

Thank you ALL for your work with your child, and the dedication it requires ! Together we are giving our children a most precious gift!

With LOVE to all from the MATT TEAM!

CONCERT PROGRAMS TO GO!

Parent NOTE: MISSING EASEL: Since Tuesday last week, November 19th, our easel for the white board has gone missing. It is in a black bag, similar to the music stand bags, but is much lighter than a stand. We are always very careful not to leave anything behind when we leave. It may have been accidentally picked up by a parent or student thinking it was a music stand. Would each of you kindly take a careful look at home and in your car, to see if you have an extra black bag. We are hoping not to have to spend our carefully budgeted funds replacing it ,
so will hope it returns SOON!
