Level 1 Homework
 
1. Continue working carefully on scales of D and G-straight bows and excellent positions!
2. Twinkle rhythms- remember middle bow for Hot dog and MrssippiMrssippis  
3. Long Long Ago-  play through the song, then without notes

5. READING MUSIC All for Strings Book (AFS) review p. 14: # 1 to #4 NEW # 5 and 6
 
 
 Level 2 Homework
 
1. Continue working on D and G scales. Listen for perfect tuning. Watch for good RH and LH positions FULL BOWS-use the whole thing! make the Wrist PULL UP ON V BOW
 
2. NEW: Continue 2 octave G scale with shifting:
Play by play for  violas: Start on G 3 on D string , then A0  B1 C2 then SLIDE WHOLE HAND UP TILL FIRST FINGER IS ON D (WHERE 3RD USUALLY GOES): THEN PLAY 1 2 3 4- D E F# G, return F# E D then shift back down to 2 on C- B A G (D3)  
Play by play for cellos: second octave:Start G4 A B C  D- AFTER YOU PLAY " 4-D" ON A string, SLIDE HAND UP NECK TILL THUMB HITS THE CURVE OF NECK- PLACE 1 ON STRING AND PLAY E1, F#3, G4-return, F# E, THEN shift hand BACK DOWN TO D (4 ON A string)back down to G- 4 on D
Practise the shifting part alone many times eg.
                                    viola C2 up to 1 on D then back to 2 on C repeat
                                         cello D4 to E1 on A and back again. repeat
 
3. AFS :complete 48 to 64 then #65 on to #67
 
4. NEW SONG : Rosa Lee up to Letter A. Practise bars # 8 and 10 5 x each
 
5. Have fun playing Beethoven's 9th!
 
 Level 3 Homework
 
1. Hornpipe: work on beautiful sound as you practice this piece- lifting with wrist on V bow ALWAYS!
 
2. Boogaloo: C major scale- NO sharps DRILL and count each 2 bar section for accurate rhythms. Do only the different ones-many bars are repeated. NEW : bar 23 UP TO BAR 38
 
3. March from Scipio- learn notes and rhythms.
4. Continue Allegro, Chariots
