PRIVATE LESSONS: 1. Everyone has received the Absence policy doc via e-mail- please read and keep for reference. All parents have the teacher numbers for emergency contact.

2. We have discovered some glitches in our scheduling for some  students. These are being rectified one on one and should be sorted out for the next group 1 week. Thank you for your patience with this complicated process. We will get it right!

ROSE CONCERT Nov.3  REMINDER This Tuesday Oct 25/ Wed Oct 26  is the last day to purchase 3 series subscriptions OR single tickets. Cash or cheque to Rose Orchestra. .

MATT  DATES for your CALENDAR. Book these dates now!
PERFORMANCES
1.ALL STUDENTS will be performing at Shoppers World Mall in early December.
We have requested Friday evening December 9th arrival 7pm. Concert 7:30 to 8:15. Please keep this date open till confirmation early November.

2. ADVANCED CLASS Rose Theatre- Intermission Performance Sat. Dec 3rd arrival 7pm
Performing students receive free tickets to the Rose O. performance. Parents may wish to attend the Rose Orchestra concert at our special low ticket prices. Always a very special celebration concert!

3.TERM ENDING before WINTER BREAK: Last classes will be held DEC 20 and DEC 21.

HOMEWORK THIS WEEK


BEGINNERS: 
PRACTICE CHARTS ARE A GUIDE FOR REVIEW DURING THE WEEK. Bring them to calss with you for checking .

PRACTICE THE FOLLOWING EVERY DAY- at least FOUR DAYS each week:
REVIEW from last week:
RH- BOW HOLD- 
LH - Instrument position and correct left hand position curved gently over the strings  but not touching them
Bow exercises: 1."elevator"- for flexible wrist :Place Coin/eraser- flat top of  hand . V
2. "Windshield wiper" 
3 "Monkey crawl".
Review: Pizzicato- plucking the string - string cycle- pluck four notes on each string ihigh to low and back
NEW :Playing with the  BOW. (arco)
With perfect bow grip and instrument position, lift the right arm above the string and drop the bow hair gently onto the D string. Allow the weight of the right arm to drop onto the hand, to create a solid grip on the string. Then pull four short strokes in the middle of the bow.
STRING CYCLE- Starting with your lowest string, play four short strokes in the middle of the bow on each string -to the highest string and back to the lowest.



INTERMEDIATES
CHARTS TO BE BROUGHT TO CLASS- PRACTICE  5 DAYS- AT LEAST 30 MIN PER DAY! If you consistently don't have a chart, you will not play in the class!

Practice at least FIVE days a week.
Practice scales : G and scale of D
1. AFS book #126 Learn YOUR assigned part A B or C
 NEW: # 167 violins - E string
3. Continue with Double Trouble bar 1 to bar 16!!.

ADVANCED
CHARTS TO BE BROUGHT TO CLASS- PRACTICE  5 DAYS AT LEAST 40 MIN PER DAY! If you consistently don't have a chart you will not play in the class!

1. D scale- work to perfect your tuning and shifting
2. Work on G scale
3. Harvest Home: continue to letter S VIOLAS: LEARN the solo part at letter S!

4. CANON: Please note the CUT - play to bar 14 then cut to bar 43
VIOLAS: Practice pizz notes -press LH hard and pull strongly for a ringing sound NB :
Cellos: in TUNE notes- smooth and beautiful tuning.
Violins: learn notes up to bar 18

5.Canadian Ballad: Learn the notes for the whole piece. 
These three pieces are for the December Rose Theatre concert. Start now to perfect these. More are coming!!!
