and Advanced CLASS TIME SWITCH:
ADVANCED Students arrive
4:30 p.m. to set up and tune your instruments.
Class: 4:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
INTERMEDIATE Students arrive 5:30
p.m. to set up and tune your instruments.
Class: 5:45 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Session fees are due Tuesday December 01st,

CONCERT DRESS ATTIRE: Advanced Students for December 5th ONLY
All Advance students
should dress in their finest concert outfits. Clothing should be neat and
clean. If boys have dress shirts and ties, that would be great! Girls'
a nice dress, shirt, blouse, dress pants would also be wonderful. Preferably
no jeans, sweat pants or sneakers!!!!
December 11th: ALL STUDENTS
should wear their finest concert attire.
December 12th: Students can wear
casual attire. Jeans, sneakers, etc.
Rose Theatre Intermission Performance: ADVANCED STUDENTS ONLY!!

to the concert. Leave theatre seats to pick up instruments- before the last
song before intermission begins

the intermission, students will play their FOUR Christmas Pieces:
LAST class before Christmas is Dec 15th
FIRST class of 2016 is January 5.

BEGINNERS
During tuning time before class, show practice chart to your teacher- if you have 4 days practice marked you may choose a sticker for your chart!
EACH DAY REVIEW THE FOLLOWING:
1. EVERY DAY PRACTICE WARM UP:
- Sitting position
- PERFECT Bow Hold: all fingers rounded
- Bow exercises: Windshield wiper, Monkey crawl up/ down, Twinkle with coin.
- Correct Instrument hold
- Placing bow on string: LIFT arm above your string, drop weight of arm onto string, feel it "settle into" the string.
- Careful placement of LEFT HAND , -violin/viola at end of fingerboard. CELLO tape or index finger measurement/ thumb behind 2nd finger, on back of neck
2. String Cycle: Drop bow onto your lowest (thickest) string. Pull four short strokes, then move to next string and repeat bow strokes.
NEW RHYTHM:
MIssissippi Hot Dog on each STRING PLAY: short short short short long long
3. 0-1 String Cycle: On each string, as above play 0-1 then go to next string. Listen for correct "doh-re: sound. Check correct round finger position
4. FOR CONCERT: TWINKLE - line 1, 2 and 3. ALWAYS PLAY with correct position !
