BE BACH SOON!!

FEBRUARY 24
                                                    Food for thought:

Baroque Era Composer, Johann Sebastian Bach
 (1684-1750)
wrote hundreds of the world's most admired compositions.
This humble church organist & choirmaster who wrote only "for the Glory of God" said:

“I was obliged to be industrious.
Whoever is equally industrious will succeed equally well”
Isn't "INDUSTRIOUS" like, the "10,000" hours idea?

Parent Note: Group class with Loren was cancelled today.
Private lessons continued as usual.
Thanks for your understanding -this is the first time EVER that we've cancelled class - it may also be the last!

SOUND BYTES FROM ADMINISTRATION

CLASS ETIQUETTE:
PARENTS - please show your support for the work the students are doing with your silence during class!  You wouldn't talk through a Rose performance.  Whisper or take it into the hallway.  The theory room can be available for parent discussions if you wish - just ask me to open the door.

PRIVATE LESSON ETIQUETTE:
PARENTS: please ensure you arrive for lessons (and class!) 10 mins early to ensure we can give the student a full 30 mins.  Set up and be ready for tuning! Remember - no music stand required at studios; please bring a note book every lesson for the teacher to write practice notes in.  If you don't practice, you can't move on to the next book!

CONGRATULATIONS!
to our new Librarian, Susan Dal Dosso!
This is such an important job!Thank you for helping!!

The March calendar is available.  I will be emailing it to all parents.  (I know papers from my kids get lost!)  PLEASE NOTE: there are NO CLASSES DURING MARCH BREAK.  Please check the lesson schedule as the break disrupts our every other week schedule! Also note that there are 2 sheets in the spreadsheet - 1 has the calendar, the other has the lesson times, locations and phone numbers just like the February calendar.  A hard copy will be available on Tuesday if you need it.

Remember to notify me if your student is to be absent from class! Their attendance is critical to their success!  For private lessons absence, please contact me and their teacher.

PLEASE SET ASIDE THESE DATES!!
JUNE 1ST AND JUNE 14TH
These are tentative concert dates.  More information will be posted when it is available.  Attendance for these concerts is mandatory so please clear your calendar so all students can perform!

If you ordered a music stand and didn't receive one yet, they should be here for you on Tuesday!  Please bring your $10. (beginner students)

CALLING ALL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS!!  MATT is looking for a couple student volunteers!  All high school students need volunteer hours and we can provide them!  Please speak to me if you know a student needing their hours or if you have an idea about how we can promote our needs.

ROSE ORCHESTRA PERFORMANCES
March 26th - "It's Tradition"
April 30 - "Springtime in Paris"

These are the final 2 concerts of the season! The March performance has
David Rehner performing a violin concerto (solo with orchestra)
and is geared to classical music lovers.
The April concert is lighter music and will have a
performance by the Rosebuds.

Remember you must attend 1 Rose Orchestra performance to obtain your MATT certificate at the end of the year!!
Tickets are $20 per adult and $10 (total) for up to 4 children. (you need to specify the number of children so we can have an actual ticket for them!)  Sign up for the March performance is March 1st and 8th for ticket delivery (and payment) March 22nd (because of March break).

Remember, almost all our teachers are members of the Rose Orchestra and will be performing!  Come out and see your teachers perform!
