LET'S SHOW OFF WHAT WE CAN DO!

THE CONCERT:
Two weeks from Tuesday's class-same time, same place on May 31, our first Music at the Towers performance . Everyone can bring four or five guests- that will give us a great audience. Busy people need lots of advance notice, so if you haven't already invited them, make your calls this week for sure! They will be happy be there to support you in this very special adventure of music- making!

SESSION THREE starts this week, so please bring your  $25.00 fees Tuesday. This will take you to the end of June, when we take our summer break. If you would like to continue to play and practice over the summer, you can make arrangements to have the instrument longer.  Just let us know towards the end of June. This is actually an excellent way to get ahead, when you have lots of extra time at home. Extra lessons can be arranged on an individual basis if you wish.

MUSIC STANDS REQUIRED
After the concert, we will be starting to read music and will need music stands to hold our method books. Students are asked to purchase a music stand for their use at home and at class. We can get them for you at Long & McQuade, Brampton at a cost of either $16.00 or $32.00(incl.tax), or you can purchase your own. The more expensive one ($32.) has a nice carrying bag and with good treatment will last a long time. The other one is a serviceable collapsible stand but needs to be treated carefully - you make the choice. We need you to have them for June 7th, so if you want us to pick it up for you, please bring your payment  this week or next.
VERY NICE SOUNDS are beginning to be made  Tuesday afternoons - your dedicated practice is the key to your progress!

MUSIC IS FOR LIFE!

As we move along from our long bows to our scales, and then our songs, we gradually, day by day, add more vocabulary to this language of music.. it is indeed a language which we are building. In fact this language is one that is recognized by music students and great musicians alike. It has no borders - in every country you use the same notes and time signatures and symbols- it is truly the universal language! What better way is  there to connect with the world?
We don't notice this as we make our early steps, but we all do make these first steps. If we keep on going, we have something special and unique that bridges all barriers of race, religion and language. And this can lead to a lifetime of fun, accomplishment, and enjoyment.
Just keep on playing- that is the key. The more you play and practice, the easier it becomes, till you can communicate to anyone in the world through your instrument, in your own unique way!

CONCERT- Share the music!

We now have four classes left before our concert:
Tues. May 31, 3:45, in the party room
David Rehner, Teacher, Concertmaster of the BramptonSymphony  is bringing a group of Grade 8 string players
from Queen Elizabeth Public School in Mississauga
to play in the performance
What a great gift to our program!

Here are ways to help you prepare for  SUCCESS at the concert:
  • Remind parents to put the date on the family calendar so they can be sure to attend. We want to have lots of people in the audience.
  • Practice lots! In the concert you want to be good at:D scale, and Twinkle. Practice at home, four or more times a week, on correct hand positions, beautiful long bows, correct tuning, and clear sound.
  • Bring charts to class. Prizes are coming for best class performances!
  • Chat it up with your friends. Ask if they'd like to join the orchestra program. Invite them and their parents to the concert to see what you can do after just a few lessons. New beginners' registration is coming up in June.
  • What to wear in the concert?- normally, white top/ black pants/skirt/shorts. Any other ideas? Bring them to class.
Concerts are a very special part of a young musician's early training-a fun chance to show off how much you have learned.
Be the best you can be!
